Originally from New Zealand, the Gala apple is a cross between the Kidd’s Orange Red and Golden Delicious apples.
The Gala has a mild, sweet taste that will make you think of vanilla and a floral aroma. It has a yellow, juicy and very firm flesh that gives it plenty of crunch.
This apple has a very pretty shape and stripes, and a smooth, fine skin that is remarkably resistant to bruising.

Although excellent when eaten fresh, it also cooks nicely. In fact, it’s ideal for pies and stewing.
